FEBRUARY'S ARTIST OF THE MONTH WENDY BERGE
Wendy Berg was born and raised in Dawson Creek, BC and now resides in the beautiful Creston Valley. Wendy has an art degree from Northern Lights College, and has attended many short seminars to learn and practice the art of drawing and painting, acrylic and watercolor. Her last workshop she attended was with Joseph Fettingis. She also enjoys photography and framing. Wendy does wonders for other artist by framing their most beautiful pieces in her framing home based business, " The Little Frame Shop", generating customers through Park Studio Gallery.
Wendy's favorite memory was when she was a young girl her dad painted advertisements for each week for the old Co-op. He would sketch the outline of the sales on big pieces of paper on the walls then Wendy and her siblings would paint them in. Later on her dad took art classes (an excellent artists himself) and this inspired Wendy to paint. Wendy's inspirations also come from family and the nature around her.
Wendy falls in love with every piece she creates. Each piece varies on the time it takes, if she is very enthusiastic, pieces go quite quickly, others takes a lot more thought. She is currently working on an watercolor of bright colored birds to be installed in a beautiful old frame.
Wendy would enjoy learning more new things about acrylic painting in the Creston Valley. She enjoys creating new projects it gives her great joy, relaxation, satisfaction and excitement on the final outcome of the piece.
Wendy has shown her art in other galleries like the Dawson Creek Art Gallery, Park Studio Gallery, and many halls like the United Church hall and the Rotocrest. Her oldest piece she painted was an acrylic painting of her mother's blue crystal vase. The only oil painting she ever did was a replica of a painting by the Canadian group of seven. The group of seven are the founders of the first Federation of Canadian Artists.
Wendy was a member of the South Peace Art Society and the Dawson Creek Art Society. She was named Artist of the month for December. Wendy is now President and founding member of the Creston Valley United Artist Guild. Wendy's tip to share to other artists is "Never say you haven't the time, life is too short. Just Do It!"
