Amber Pompu
Honorary Visual Artist of August
Amber Pompu
Born and raised in the beautiful Creston Valley, Amber has been enjoying doing art it seems like forever. Mr. Munsen, Amber’s high school teacher, taught her many forms of art. Amber enjoys drawing, pencil/pen, pastel, charcoal, acrylic painting, photography, and woodworking. She enjoyed tutoring a grade 8 class giving the students helpful tips on shading.
Amber’s favorite memory is painting her abstract mural of a mountain scene in the beautiful Creston Valley at the Creston hostile. Music influences Amber to paint, it takes her 2 hours at the most to complete her paintings. Her favorite piece is a triptych painting, it has lots of bright colors in it, and Amber made the canvas herself.
Amber is currently working on a sewing project. She would like to learn fabric design at the Kootenay School of Art. Amber enjoys creating her art, it takes her emotions from inside and releases them out onto the canvas. She has some of her paintings displayed at the hostile in Creston.
“Clockwork Orange”, is Amber’s favorite book and movie, it was made in the 1940’s. She really finds the past very interesting. Her oldest and most interesting piece is an Andy Warhol painting of Marilyn Munroe, this painting has 3 separate pictures of her all in different colors.
If you would like to see more of Amber’s art it will be on display for the month of August at Park Studio Gallery or you can go to www.parkstudio.net and look in the gallery. Amber also has her own art website at www.geocities.com/amberfebruary.
